The forest environment is a powerful healer that enhances human natural killer (NK) cell activity, the number of NK cells, and intracellular anti-cancer proteins in lymphocytes by way of human exposure to phytoncides. Phytonicides are essential oils released by trees and plants to defend against insects, animals and decomposition.
Natural killer cells (also known as NK cells) are a type of lymphocyte (a white blood cell) and they serve to contain viral infections while the adaptive immune response is generating antigen-specific cytotoxic T cells that can clear the infection.
Phytoncide exposure significantly increases NK activity and the percentages of NK, perforin, granulysin, and granzyme A/B-expressing cells, and significantly decreases the percentage of T cells, and the concentrations of adrenaline and noradrenaline.
Exposure to phytoncides is associated with boosted immunity levels, lower levels of cortisol, slower heart rates, lower blood pressure, greater activity of parasympathetic nerves that promote relaxation, and reduced activity of sympathetic nerves associated with “fight or flight” reactions to stress.
Journey with me through the upper, middle and lower worlds of the forest and learn how to reconnect and tend relations with the other-than-human peoples therein. "Ayni", meaning sacred reciprocity in Quechua- indigenous language of South America, is the exchange of energy between humans, nature and the universe. I will guide you in practicing ayni and deepening your innate relationship with Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the forest elemental beings and receiving their healing gifts and insights.
I am a lover of the land & have a deep affinity with Pachamama/Gaia. I believe many have forgotten our innate connection & relationship with the forest. I am here to guide you in tapping into your natural power to reach a state of non-ordinary consciousness known as “liminal state." In this supported space you will remember your kinship with forest consciousness effortlessly and harmoniously. This restorative and transformative experience is infused with healing elements from ancient yogic traditions, Peruvian shamanic cosmology, and Eastern Medicine principles.
